An Introduction

I have a BSc in Biology, but it turned out that finding jobs in the sciences without a graduate degree is basically impossible (and from what I've heard, pretty hard even with a graduate degree), so after a few years bouncing around working temp jobs (and working on Dreamwidth in my free time) I went and got a BA in Computer Science and now work in web application security. Which is not something I planned, but I do enjoy it. I grew up and currently reside in New England, but I lived in Vancouver, BC for seven years (first degree was done there) so I still apologize like a Canadian. I also have ADHD and thus also have like a million hobbies and at least ten projects in progress at any given time, because I have not yet learned to walk the fine line between being bored and being overwhelemed.
Fandom-wise, I am a little bit of a lurker, mostly because I've been doing this for twenty years and am tired and opinionated at this point. On rare occasions I write fic, but I'm kind of an average writer at best (good at characterization, bad at plot and showing rather than telling). Most of my fandom output is cosplay and the occasional bit of research or meta (though like, you ever need programming for a fandom thing, hit me up). Hibernating fandoms (which I am always ready to be hype about given an excuse): Getbackers, Gintama, Saiyuki, Yami no Matsuei, Peacemaker Kurogane, FF7, FFX, X-Men (comicsverse), Stormwatch/Authority (Wildstorm, not DC), CCS, X/TB.
Outside of fandom, I generally like... making stuff, I guess. Sewing, knitting, woodwork, home improvement. I have a 3D printer, and just got a Cameo Silhouette for Christmas. I've been doing volunteer dev work for Dreamwidth for nearly ten years now, and semi-accidentally ended up head dev/maintainer for Lolibrary. I like alt fashion, both Japanese and Western, and am probably close enough to 'goth' to count (though I like EBM too much to qualify under strict old-school definitions). I have one cat, who is my big fluffy dumb princess, and I love her dearly even when she's being a pest.
And I am probably missing important things I will think of later, but feel free to ask questions :D
