What I have been up to
Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:221) Reading just... so much Untamed fanfic. So, so much. Seriously, if you're into gay supernatural bullshit and/or loyalty kink and you need something new to watch, it's on both Youtube and Netflix. The CG is bad but everything else is so pretty and the fandom is like a fucking fire hose of good-quality fic content.
2) Video games! I bought a digital copy of Dynasty Warriors 8, because sometimes you just wanna wipe out 50 mooks in one swing, and it has online coop for some of the modes so Andy and I can play together. I've also been going through some of the indie games I bought as part of various Humble Bundles. Played through Bastion, which is a lovely little game, and then I've been playing around with various little puzzle games as well. And then I've got a weekly standing 'Wingspan and/or Jackbox' virtual game night with friends
3) Working on Lolibrary, which is my other, non-DW volunteer dev project. It's a different skillset - while I've done a few coding bugfixes, a lot of the work is more db admin/sys admin stuff - taught myself some Kubernetes so I could automate our build/deploy pipeline, and I just finished doing frankly gruesome data-wrangling to get ~750 items that were in an old, old Drupal version of the site in to the current one (anyone who has had to deal with Drupal's DB structure is probably having flashbacks now, and I'm sorry)
4) Work, which is.... going. I'm glad I still have a job (and am pretty comfortable in my level of job security), but while I like all of my immediate co-workers, upper management imposed some team reshuffles that have left me stuck working primarily on JS and Java, and I would rather set myself on fire than become a fulltime Java dev. So like, if anyone hears of any cool places looking for Python devs, give a shout.
Also between DST and the cooler weather I want to crawl under a pile of blankets and sleep until Spring. Ugh.
