In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges?

All the cool kids were doing it! I saw it on my reading list, and two of the things I was hoping to do this year were to do more blogging, and to see if I could foster more fandom discussion on Dreamwidth. Tumblr has turned out to be great for posting and discussing cosplay stuff - I think in part because cosplay is such a visual medium, and tumblr really excels at that - but regular fandom discussion there is either really shallow or 'we eat our young'. So I avoid the tags and mostly just stick to my little circle of friends, which is relaxed, but not so great for making new friends or getting in to new stuff.

So at the very least, I hope to get my writing groove going, and if I'm lucky, maybe get more discussion started!

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

1) Fix-it fic for Peacemaker Kurogane. I've actually been trying to tempt someone into writing this for me for Parallels for a few rounds now, but this is a tiny fandom :( I don't even care if it's like, silly modern AU fix-it fic, I just want a universe where things end happily.

2) A Gundam 00 vid to U2's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' featuring the Dylandys. I was frankly amazed one didn't exist already.

3) Hemlsman Captor fanart in all of it's wonderful body-horror glory.

Cosplay WIP - Fancytier Aradia

So! When last we saw this project, it was December 2014, and I had just dyed the trim and shirt fabric. It got put on hold for most of 2015, though I did pick up the red polyester dupioni to replace the poly-wool gabardine that wasn’t red enough. The shorts are a pants pattern I modified myself to make a standard base that fit me (originally from a Vogue men’s suit pattern, iirc), and the bolero is McCall’s M6911 with some mods, primarily in the sleeves. I made the dubious decision to handsew all the trim on the jacket, though I did get a lot of anime watched in the process.

The Time symbol is charmeuse I dyed red - the tone variations are not quite like the original art, but trying to find close tones in appropriate fabric is really hard. Silk-on-silk was not a good choice for my first time doing needleturn hand applique, but it turned out decently well and the line of seed beads (currently on order) will hide any of the flaws and help set it off a bit more from the background.

Super-pleased with how much I got done in two and a half weeks, particularly with finals and holidays!
