Around the House
- Got my building permit for the basement renovation! Next step is ordering supplies and uh. Figuring out if delivery costs are okay, or if I'm going to have to bribe someone with a car big enough to fit 4'x8' sheets in it to help
- Bought some Japanese and Siberian irises to go in my iris 'pond' - of course, because they were coming from Washington state, the place shipped at an appropriate planting season there. Meanwhile we're at frost-risk until mid-May, so I've planted them temporarily in some large containers I can haul inside when it's going to get too cold overnight, and I'm going to hope for the best
- Saw two wool moths the other day, one downstairs and one upstairs. Time to obsessively run the Roomba and make sure all my wool craft supplies are stored airtight 8(
- Bought a split keyboard kit because I'm stalled out on my full-custom one, and a kit takes out all the bits I'm stuck on (which is like, figuring out wiring/firmware stuff). Of course, the switches I want are out of stock right now so I can't actually get soldering, but... soon.
- I really need a new mattress but ugggh it's a lot of money for something that you are not sure you will like until after it's a huge hassle to return. (I have the money, it'd the decision-making that's holding me up)

EDIT: Never mind, I see from your introduction post last month that you're in New England.

I lived in Vancouver once upon a time, for about seven years, so you may be remembering that? I miss things about living out there, but when I was living there, I missed things about living in New England, so until someone invents a teleporter I have to make do.

Heh, your posts make me miss it sometimes (as does any discussion about food - nearest Chinese bakery to me here is an hour away....). But on the flip side, my current house would have been 4x the price in metro Vancouver, so.

oh no moths D:
the decision making is what always gets me!

I don't know what they came in on originally, but they made a nice home in one of my wool rugs, and as all the pesticides that work on them are super-toxic to cats, I am stuck with frequent cleaning and crying inside as a solution.
Decision making is hard, decision making with lots of money on the line is extra hard. Doesn't help that I don't really know what I want other than 'comfortable' and 'not memory foam'.

They areeeeeee D:

But now who knows when that will be. This year? Next year??

Ugh yeah, they're definitely a pain to move.

(Plus, I actually need to test it at the store, which is another point I'm not into right now. Meh.)

Yeah the store thing is the other big reason - not that I would particularly enjoy going to a mattress store anyway because the sales people tend to be a bit pushy, but I extra don't want to go in a pandemic.
