Sometimes I look at my music library and am forced to confront the fact that at least half of it comes from the LJ FST comm circa 2005 (the other half is 'video game soundtracks I got from friends in college' and 'lots of industrial/EBM/new wave I torrented')
Which is I guess mostly okay except I don't want to become one of those adults who hates new music because I don't listen to it, so feel free to drop me some recs. I tend to prefer stuff with a strong melody line, but while my main library is a lot of industrial/new wave/90s-00s alt rock, I do have a little bit of everything.

Yeah I can't stand ads so I almost never listen to the radio - plus the one modern rock station in my area got bought out a few years ago and the frequency is Christian radio now, so my only two real options are the classic rock station north of me (which plays more Def Leppard that I really want to hear), or the good days when I can pick up one of the college radio stations out of Boston that has an unusually beefy transmitter.
Some of the fanmix stuff has moved to Spotify, but it's a lot harder to search there, unfortunately, and you don't get the nice line notes.
