Today is the day I scream about social media start-ups on tumblr, apparently. Linking rather than crossposting, because I'm pretty sure my auto-crossposter would pull in the whole reblog chain and that's obnoxious.
My response to WritScrib, the newest attempt at a tumblr alternative (tl;dr - DW has 90% of the features already, would not implement 5% of them because they're bad ideas, and it would be far, far easier to add the extra 5% than reinventing the fucking wheel).
My additions to a conversation about fandom culture and history on social media and why you should use DW.
Basically I just want to shake people and scream 'DREAMWIDTH IS RIGHT FUCKING THERE OKAY'
(and now I'm going to try to calm down and go back to watching Nirvana in Fire and sewing)

Ahem. That is, yes, it's a lovely show. *whistles innocently*

You posting about it made me finally get off my butt and start it - now I'm 14 episodes in and totally addicted.

I'll probably make a post just about it later this week because SO MANY FEELINGS, I HAVE THEM.

Yeah, it's one of those things that sounds nice in theory, but it's hard to actually implement in a way that is actually useful, and doesn't encourage account-sharing (which is a huge security risk). I know AO3 has it, but afaik the linking is pretty transparent - they all go to the same profile page, so it's really just more of a pen name.

Yeah, the fandom history one was really good - I knew a lot of it, but not about the harrassment that was happening on FF.net.

Yeah, I knew like two episodes in that this was gonna wreck me, but I accept that as the price I pay for satisfying my h/c and loyalty kinks. And yes, Shu has so many beautiful subtle expressions, both sorrowful and joyful.

But, yeah, the potential for abusive profiles is sort of minimized if they all lead back to your primary.
