I was all like 'YEAH gonna write up some cosplay posts!' but then the OS upgrade at work that I thought was going to take me two days took two weeks instead because enterprise Linux kind of sucks. Eventually I'll do them though, I swear.
In the meantime, a new icon, because we realized at Dragon*Con that one of my themes for the weekend was Tired Space Gay (cosplaying two canonically queer characters in one weekend? Amazing) and also frankly 'Tired Space Gay' is pretty on-brand for me. Also I have been playing Octodad: Dadliest Catch the last few days after watching Justin and Griffin McElroy's overview vid of it and then discovering that apparently I bought it in some Humble Bundle in the past. It's a delightfully weird little game so far.
What have y'all been up to?

I'm sure my workplace has lots of progressivism, but it seems to be concentrated mostly in the lower ranks, instead of the managerial suites.

yeah - I had managed to build up a bit of an emergency fund (mostly via a 'set it and forget it' mechanism in my bank account), but then the combo of the car and a big convention at the beginning of September meant I overspent my budget and had to yoink half the money back out again, and I'm still trying to get it back where it was.
I think our C-suite (or equiv, given someone else owns us) is somewhat less queer than some parts of the company, but it's still very diverse - only two white dudes on a leadership team of eight - and the upper levels of R&D are deffo very queer. There was some concerns because the company that bought us out just got bought out by Broadcomm, who's track record on LGBTQ+ issues is mediocre at best, and the general sentiment among old timers was 'we're here, we're queer, and Broadcomm's just going to have to fucking get used to it', which is to say, we protect our own.

It's good that there's an automatic deduction - I have a few of those, and it's nice to not have to make the decision, but that it already happens. Less brainspace taken.

Automatic deductions/automatic bill payments = the only way I get money moved around successfully. It's too much to keep track of otherwise, heh.
