Knitting - 11 in 2011

So, as somewhat of a personal challenge to myself, I decided to try and go for the '11 in 2011' challenge (though unofficially!). Basically, the challenge was to knit (or crochet) eleven shawls in one year. Mine are all more of the 'shawlette' size, as that's how I like them, but I thought I'd share the photos, along with what patterns and yarn I used! Posted in order of creation~


1) Aestlight Shawl in Knit Picks Stroll Sport Rainforest Heather (with one skein overdyed for brown by me)




2) Multnomah in Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Blue Yonder (gradient overdyed by me, with hematite-colored beads on the edging)




3) Boneyard Shawl in handspun from Old Sturbridge Village (overdyed from natural by me)



4) The Age of Brass and Steam in Knit Picks Stroll Sport Bare (overdyed by me, with topaz-colored beads on the edging and a picot bind-off)




5) Gingko in Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Canopy



6) Holden Shawlette in Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Deep Ocean



7) Bitterroot in SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Mist, with amethyst-colored beads




8) Bitterroot in Indigo Moon Merion Superwash Fingering Stormy Night, with hematite-colored beads




9) Springtime Bandit in SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Goldmine




10) Marella in Mirasol Nuna Maya Blue/1011

Ohhh, these are pretty. I think #2 is my favorite - I really love the blue-to-black gradient. #4's design caught my eye as well.

#2 was definitely the most fun to dye, and the most rewarding - the original color was a bit meh, but the gradients worked out perfectly.

Here via knitting; what a lovely collection, so much variety in the patterns. I can't decide which I like best—it's hard to distinguish between 'that looks pretty' and 'hmm, I think I could try that one'!

Thank you - I love them a lot too :3 Which makes up for the fact that half of them are draped random places in my living room *g* (I ran out of coat hooks a whiiiile ago)

These are gorgeous, and the colors are beautiful. You dyed and picked some fantastic ones. And congrats on making your goal!

Thanks! I thought I wasn't going to make it - the Jaali is beautiful, but it's patterned on both sides so it took a lot of work. #dreamwidth got to hear me flail as I worked on it, haha

Those are beautiful! I'm really impressed by the gradient on the Multnomah; those are lovely colours and it changes so smoothly.

Thank you! It's actually surprisingly easy - I had done some fabric dip-dyeing before, and it's mostly the same. But the end result is pretty impressive - which is why I love dyeing so much. It's very instant gratification *g*

Those are all absolutely gorgeous! I am in awe, and also inspired to make a (laceweight) shawl of my own *g*

Never *g* Though as you can see from the Multnomah, I love wearing them as scarves, so I guess it's more like warm neck.

I confess that I haven't managed to work myself up to anything laceweight yet - it's so skinny and kind of intimidating!

man. i am super impressed! all beautiful shawls in lovely colors that show off the lacework very nicely!

i've been working on ONE shawl for about a year! lol! i keep interrupting it with other small projects, but still! i'm really going to try to finally finish it this month.

Thank you! And I think everyone kind of has a favorite type of object to make - one of my friends loves making hats, and for me, it's little triangle shawls. I think it's because they're interesting enough to me that I want to keep working on them to see how the pattern unfolds.
